The Havanese came to the United States by way of the Cuban revolution, a small handful of Havanese made it to the US with their familes and from there we have the Havanese of today. They are a sturdy toy dog of immense charm and personality. They have a love for life and their families, who proudly own them.
They are intelligent and bright, easy to train. Perched on a lap, trotting jauntily at the end of a leash, or working his way through a repertoire of tricks, the Havanese is typical of the dogs bred specifically as companions-they bask in human attention and affection. Their love of attention comes from their adorable little "show-off" natures. They are curious and busy constantly. They are natural clowns and enjoy interludes of rowdy, madcap play. The Havanese expression tells you that they miss nothing going on around them. They never let strangers approach unwelcomed. They thrive on human companionship, and are at their best as a participating member of the family.
The Havanese measure slightly longer than tall, height ranges between 8.5" to ll.5". They have a silky long profuse coat and a plumed tail carried loosely over their back. Coat colors come in white, cream, red, chocolate, silver, black or any combination of these colors. The Havanese do not shed, so families with allergies can usually own one. They do require a daily brushing and a weekly bath.
We believe in health testing and sponsor genetic research. Our Havanese are raised and socialized with love and care in our homes, are fed a holistic kibble, puppies are litter box trained and trained to drink from a water bottle to keep their faces clean and dry. When looking for a Havanese puppy, please ask questions, see the parents, check to see if the health testing has been done and ask why they have bred this litter. This is a investment for life and we hope you enjoy and love your Havanese as much as we do.
